Controlled Demolition of the Day: Boom go the 153-pounds of explosives, and down comes the Ohio River’s historic Fort Steuben Bridge.
The 84-year-old landmark was deemed “structurally deficient” and had been closed to traffic since 2009. It was finally demolished this past Tuesday by the Joseph B. Fay Company and Controlled Demolition Inc. — the same contractors which previously helped ODOT tear down the 118-year-old Bridgeport Bridge (video below).
I’m actually really fascinating by the long delay between seeing the explosion and actually hearing it.
Home, sweet home.
aww, home sweet home. still weird that it’s gone.
Coolest explosion ever
